Just because I want to. Here's a picture of the local pier at low tide. It's in the process of being renovated.
Nothing done to the picture.

Reminds me of the pier in GTA San Andreas![]()
I didn't realise that pier is that old. It's a common design for piers from the Victorian age.

Coffe at home just isn't the same as in pub. To me, it's not just the coffe, it's also the ambient that makes pleasure.
I'd love to see some pictures of the inside once the renovations are complete. In 1879 it was officially opened. Most piers in the UK are from around this age. It's had a couple of mishaps along the way but other than that rather uneventful. It became rough due to simply being ignored.
The renovations are almost complete on the outside but last time we looked inside it still seemed a bit rough. Will be nice to see once it's finally complete. Not entirely sure what they plan to put inside yet. Typically they have a coin casino type place inside and a couple of restaurants/cafes. I'm hoping that they make it a touch classier but I'm not holding my breath!
That sounds like me! I drink mine black and unsweetened.I drink coffee all day long... at work... and continue when I get home.
It sounds, like a lot, but in the end, it really isn't... I have a coffee on the way to work, maybe make 2-3 coffees while at work, and then have 1 when I get home. I don't add sweetener, so to me, it's better than drinking sodas or sweet tea all day. Yeah, I could just drink water, but where's the flavor?

They're dotted up and down the Mid-Atlantic in the U.S from the same time period. There used to be railroads running from the coastal (interior cities) to the coastal centers like that. Its amazing how people used to wear their Sunday Best when they'd walk the boardwalks in those days. From floor length dresses to thongs. A pendulum can't swing too much further than that :winktongue:There are piers dotted all over the UK from when the Victorians used to holiday by the seaside. There use to be many but some have been taken down, others caught fire (possible insurance claim) and some just rotted away.
I don't really like to post where I live online. What I will tell you is that it's the south coast.

I have a feeling it won't be Victorian looking but I may be wrong.
Hi Ed,Howdy gang! It's been a while... how's everyone been doing here? I've missed you all!
Been pretty busy with life and all over the last couple months myself.
My mother (74), as some of you might remember, who came to live with us earlier in the year due to her health problems, was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and will be beginning radiation treatment next week. The colon cancer that they did surgery to remove a couple years ago has spread through her blood into her lung (metastasis) thus making it "stage 4". But she's hanging in there! The doctors are enthusiastic about the treatment, and we are all just trying to stay positive about it all. We've been trying to make sure she's comfortable and not in need of anything, which honestly, between working all my crazy double-shifts and all, trying to go back and forth to all of her dr's appointments and everything has really run me ragged. But this is my mom.. so it's always worth it!
Then... a couple weeks ago the RX8 broke down. I mean really down, as in it needs a new engine down! So I've been without my own car ever since and it has just made everything twice as difficult! I definitely don't have the money for a new engine.. or a new car, so we've just been making due with what we have. Thankfully, I have the GF, and she has her car that she's been more than gracious enough to let me use to get back and forth to work with, and mom to all her appts. It's been crazy though really.. not having my own car has really hit me in the dignity department
Oh.. and guess what guys! I quit SMOKING!! Last Monday November 7th at 1p.m. was my last cigarette! I'm on day 9... During one of my mom's lung doctor appointments, I saw a flyer for a "free quit smoking" class at our local hospital which provides free NRT (nicotine replacement therapy - patches, lozenges, and gum), and saw that it just happened to be on my regular day off, so I decided to take the leap. It's been a struggle, I'm not going to lie... but I'm doing it! The money savings and the health benefits are both something I desperately need nowadays... so wish me luck guys!
That's weird. I'll check into it.Hmmm what happened to my "retired ambassador" badge?
Hi Ed,
It's nice to see you here.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom's illness. I will keep her and you in my thoughts.
That's really tough to have family health issues and car troubles at the same time.
I hope your mom will be feeling better and not have any pain.
Congratulations on quitting smoking! That's awesome.
That's weird. I'll check into it.
