WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I really need to stop avoiding these changes I should make.

Getting older is making me less vicious in my willingness to do certain things.

A good family friend told me something just as I was starting my career that after about 5 years (on average) at any job you start seeing more bad things than good. I'm coming up at about 7 years at my current workplace and of lately I seem to dislike more things at work than I like. My second job it was almost instantaneous dislike, how I managed 5 years there is a mystery.

Good luck with your change endeavors.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Here's the extended version.

I like the G7. I respect how Samsung did a nice job with the their new design since the S8. With their phones, I prefer the S8 as footprint wise as in hand feel for me the S8+ design doesn't work (same reason why I disliked the Note 8). It's the same reason why I prefer the Pixel 2 over the 2XL.

So comparing the S9+ vs G7 in-hand feel wise, for me G7 is nicer. Not as narrow, but still gives that sleek, relatively compact feel to it.

The notch doesn't bother me. I really like how clean that LCD looks (I love the panel on my Mix 2 also) and for my eyes the screen isn't overly cold. I never had an issue with LG cameras. I do wish they didn't take away the ability to swap from wide to standard angle while recording video.

I think for me I prefer the slightly wider phones to do work on if I don't have a physical keyboard. For example, the Mix 2 that I'm typing this on has that just enough of that balance of width to work on (and play games in landscape where it doesn't feel so stretched out).

Summary, the V35 has the in hand feel I like more. The G7 is something I could still use and be fine with, especially since (sadly) nobody is buying it so the price drops will be good. The V35 would be better for me because I could keep my books on it and do more reading. Still, I could live with a G7, especially if I get a Mate 10 Pro.

Thank you for the extended version, it was an interesting read. The in-hand feel is very important so I get why you mentioned that. Question for you though, if you had the chance to get a G7 or the V35, do you think that you would regret the thing that you would miss from the other one? It does sound like the V35 would be technically better for you.

There isn't anything I would regret from the G7 if I got the V35. There isn't anything from the V35 I'd regret from getting the G7.

My preference is the V35 because I like that design more. But, it is expensive for no real reason. I'd be good with using the G7.

If I were only talking about job changes, that'd be one thing. I'm putting off making widespread changes, and that's something else entirely.

Thanks for the well wishes though. I'll figure it out as I usually do. A lot of it if I do go forward I won't like initially, though. That's the part that ain't sitting with me I haven't settled yet.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Doing a coffee thing with a guy tomorrow and I'm more curious than excited.

Had it and I'm still generally curious about him. This date felt different from the other one. He is very authentic, which is really attractive to me. He's a straight shooter in the questions he asked me. He seems to really like me and we seem to be wanting some of the same general things. He actually seems fine with the wanting no children thing (which is a big thing for me)...
It also sounds like he would like to see me again, which I wouldn't mind. We will see.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I'm with everyone who enjoyed the WP keyboard. As for the Key 2, I had a chance to hold one in my hands this morning and while the bigger keyboard felt a little nicer, the overall change from the Key 1 isn't worth $250 in any way, shape or form. I thought the extra RAM and the newer CPU would make it noticeably quicker, it doesn't. It still has kinetic scrolling stutters and some delay when tapping icons. I grabbed a Key 1 instead. It's working better with the Gear S3 than with my S8+. For some reason, the Galaxy was having Apple Watch tendencies in that notifications were being silenced on the phone?!*#

I'd really suggest you do a prolonged hands-on with the Key 2 if you're seriously thinking about it.

Whoa, this is surprising to me that you got a Key1. So does this mean that you have a 8+, Idol 4S and KeyOne now? It's good to hear that this is working better for you.

Hey Laura,

This is one of the newer subway cars with less seats to fit more people. MVIMG_20180804_212616.jpg

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Every time I got into a HRA building, I'm transported back to 1975 (which includes the software used to apply for assistance).

If politricikians really wanted to see what their policies are doing firsthand, go sit in a public housing project building that's virtually uninhabitable with a resident who has complicated medical conditions (that has no where else to go). Go sit in an HRA office where there are signs up (and security) reminding people that if you assualt workers, it's a felony - because people in their own frustration from their desperation take it out on the workers trying to do their jobs.

It never sits well with me as this country generates enough money that it can be prosperous IN SPITE of what gets wasted. Instead of focusing on cleaning up wasted $ to be diverted into ventures that work, it's all about "cutting funding".

It'll never sit well with me. Which is why I grind through the full**** that is the day to day on the clock.

WP regulars: "Do you like being a SW?"

MIA: "If you mean do I get any emotional gratification or satisfaction from saying my efforts alone was able to help someone, the answer is no."

WP regulars: "then why do it?"

MIA: "I don't like to see injustice, exploitation and people taken advantage of and or being cast aside. I'm just trying to help people in the same way if I'm down and out, someone would do for me."

Actually the current lineup is Galaxy S8+, iPhone 8+ and the Key 1. I sold the Idol to a WC member who I know will give it a loving home.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

That's a nice little lineup there.
On paper it is. The S8+ is a very good device that is hampered by terrible ergonomics and the worst Android skin ever. The iPhone is equally good as long as you're ok with Apple's way or the highway. It simply refuses to play nice with non-Apple apps or peripherals. The BlackBerry has its own set of issues but they're easier to deal with.

It's come down to deciding it's better to deal with nags that crop up every now and then than deal with irritating s**t every GD day.

It's still a solid set up you have.

Mine is the Pixel 2 as the daily driver and the Mi Mix 2 as the casual gaming/tablet replacement. The Mix 2 isn't the daily due to the lack of ingress protection and 3.5mm. The best replacement for my tablet would have been the Mi Mix, but I wasn't able to find one. The HTC 10 is a project phone that once repaired is a collection piece, like the 950XL.

I still want to add another device or two for the primary rotation to push the Pixel 2 and Mix 2 to the bench. They're both very good phones, but...I'd like something with better battery life.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Gboard is really good on Android, that is my default on every Android device. I had fun today using WordFlow on my Idol 4s though. I still think auto suggest is better on WM10 compared to Gboard.

In other news the 10.8" Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro is a pretty solid device. It's a really nice upgrade from the M3 tablet.
What do you think, worth the 30€ more compared to iPad 2018?
