WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

They're both very good phones, but...I'd like something with better battery life.
That's always been a non-negotiable point for me. All three on my list have exemplary battery life. As much as I've enjoyed LG cameras and sounds, they're very weak in the battery department. The G5 was a bad joke, the G6 was as bad if not worse and the V20 was barely able to make it through a light usage day. Best of luck if you ever get a V35 or G7.

I know the LG battery experiences for me have been sub par.

Quite frankly, I may just get a Mate 10 Pro and a small MP3 player to address my woes. From a cost perspective, the Pixel 2 is still ahead of a G7/V35 in terms of value, while having the same type of battery life.

I'll likely get a G7/V35 after on the cheap though.

Actually the current lineup is Galaxy S8+, iPhone 8+ and the Key 1. I sold the Idol to a WC member who I know will give it a loving home.
Awesome, that's a great cause! Such an interesting mix of devices.

Hey @fatclue_98
What's the name of that Cuban place in the Miami airport? I'm flying back from Costa Rica via Miami next Friday and wanted to have lunch there provided it's not too far from my departure gate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Great, why doesn't Samsung die, it is too slow to be useful and battery is shoot but it won't die
I had a Tab S2 and then I left it in the seat pocket of an American Airlines plane. I then switched to the Huawei MediaPad M3 and absolutely love it. So a couple of weeks back I had the chance to grab a MediaPad M5 Pro (10.8") and MediaPad M5 (8.4") and I got them both.

The smaller tablet went to a co-worker friend of mine. I'm keeping the larger tablet for me and this one is LTE capable as well.

If you are thinking of getting it, I highly recommend it.

Haven't booted up the 950XL in a while. Need to do that at some point soon.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I think for sure I shall go the mp3 player route once more. Will do that with the Pixel 2 to see how I get along and then continue with the Mate 10 Pro.

Let us know how this goes for you please?

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Every time I got into a HRA building, I'm transported back to 1975 (which includes the software used to apply for assistance).

If politricikians really wanted to see what their policies are doing firsthand, go sit in a public housing project building that's virtually uninhabitable with a resident who has complicated medical conditions (that has no where else to go). Go sit in an HRA office where there are signs up (and security) reminding people that if you assualt workers, it's a felony - because people in their own frustration from their desperation take it out on the workers trying to do their jobs.

It never sits well with me as this country generates enough money that it can be prosperous IN SPITE of what gets wasted. Instead of focusing on cleaning up wasted $ to be diverted into ventures that work, it's all about "cutting funding".

It'll never sit well with me. Which is why I grind through the full**** that is the day to day on the clock.

WP regulars: "Do you like being a SW?"

MIA: "If you mean do I get any emotional gratification or satisfaction from saying my efforts alone was able to help someone, the answer is no."

WP regulars: "then why do it?"

MIA: "I don't like to see injustice, exploitation and people taken advantage of and or being cast aside. I'm just trying to help people in the same way if I'm down and out, someone would do for me."

The USA is a country that has a problem with paying taxes. The second issue it has is a problem with helping others through taxes.

Corporations are doing everything they can to avoid paying tax on the basis they 'employ' people. Most corporations believe they should pay zero tax.

Same with the wealty of course.

The other main issue is having a competent government in the first place but you need to have a population with buy in to the idea that paying taxes to provide health care and other services is important. More than having big guns etc...

Unfortunately the USA is built on the idea of 'figure it out yourself or die'. Too much of the 'I'm fine why aren't you?' mentality.

I'm so glad I don't live in that country regardless of the so called 'freedoms'....

I agree with you quite a bit. I started out at the bottom with nothing. But as I have worked myself up the ladder I am more sympathetic to people that are left behind. I happily voted for all the last three tax hikes in my local elections.

On a side note, I got to chat a bit with the shuttle bus driver tonight. Late night flight meant I was the only one on the bus. He is originally from Iraq who came to the USA 8 years ago. He told me about his kids. One is graduating next year from University and the other one just graduated from high school. His passion/ enthusiasm was quite contagious. There's lots of people like him who are chasing the American dream and if people need to pay a bit more to help hardworking people like him, I am all for it.

Well they're closing the gate. See y'all in a few hours.

It's historical, remember? 'Murica was founded by some rich white men who decided that it was better for them not to pay taxes to the King.

Also, the issue of the "deserving poor" is just as old. Because privilege allows the ability to "not have to see" social imbalances, the doctrine of helping those who would really work and contribute (but look like us privileged) but cannot due to extenuating circumstances is as old as the unwillingness to pay taxes.

I just don't like how tax dollars areamaged here. It's even harder in my field where people have plundered, forcing the adoptation of a corporate model for money management. Unfortunately, the corporate approach takes away some of the nuances needed for determining progress markers when dealing with people.

It's disgrace, really.

See, the part of stories like this that should be important to the general narrative is the commanlity of immgrants improving their lot and being productive societal members.

The issues is that not everyone is going through it at the same time and as a result can relate to the struggle. Because of the forefathers went through it, those occupying the privilege seats now have no ability or interest in relating to it. For political events people are cherry picked to be highlighted that fits the privileged ideaological narrative of who should be allowed to pursue a certain version of the "American dream".

Folks, I'm not cynical, just wary.

So here's an interesting story.
Back in 2008 we got our landscaping irrigation system installed. We over engineered it i.e. we had way too many pipes and valves compared to the regular Joe and hence it took quite a bit longer compared to a standard irrigation job. The guys who installed it we're definitely part of a demographic that's currently being shunned although they spoke English just fine ( the lead guy seemed like he was born in the USA). Anyway this installation happened during summer in Phoenix, AZ. When the job was done we actually gave the crew $200 over the negotiated price because I don't think anyone else would have done the job in that sweltering heat.

Most people want to work hard and make an honest living regardless of political ideology. People need to just live and let others live.

On a side note, the airport in Charlotte is crowded beyond belief. I'm going to get a cup of coffee.

It's this sort of sensiblity that gets lost.

It reminds of a story earlier this year about a Hisapnic man in a middle American town that was famous for his committement it his community. Most of the folks in the town we're in favor of the tough immigration laws currently being proposed.

So wouldn't you know it, the guy was picked up by ICE (he always followed proctocol and checked in as he was working towards his papers). Once word got out, there was an uproar and a huge push to prevent him from getting deported. People would ask, "why are they for tougher laws and yet are willing to push for this guy?"

Because it's complicated, and they know this guy.
