Wow, such an awesome theme for this week's contest. So many ideas come to mind. I have LOTS of photos that would fit this theme (car/trolley light trails, "action shot" and "motion focus" photos of fast-moving objects shot using Nokia's Smart Sequence mode, etc). Choosing one has been extremely difficult for me. So, I'm going to upload the one that has the best back story.
This photo was taken in June 2013, even before the Nokia Camera app was launched. I used the ProShot app on my Nokia Lumia 920 to photograph this scene (I have very high regard for this app and its dev - Eddie Kezeli) . It took me two trips to this spot, on two separate nights to get a handful decent shots.
And considering the challenges involved:
I think this photo came out pretty well.
Timing the photograph right was especially tough. I wanted to get light trails of cars and that of an aircraft in the same shot. Moreover, I wanted car light trails on both sides of the freeway, and not just one. I also wanted the plane's trail to begin at the left edge of the photo, instead of some random location in the middle of the photograph (that would make it look like an awkward streak in the middle of the photo). Since I had no control over traffic (both road and air), there were long periods where I was just sitting there waiting for the right combination.
