Weekly photo contest: Paths

Taken with my HTC 8X at Mt. Tampalpais, edited in Picasa on my desktop. I was on a business trip and had a few hours to kill between meetings, so despite my lack of proper footwear (and, apparently, common sense), I ventured down the Steep Ravine Trail. The giant trees were awesome, their tops in the fog, their drips creating a light and pleasant rain. There were only a few other trail users on a weekday. I stayed far longer than I should have, and showed up late to my meeting with my client, with mud-covered shoes.

People will always make their own paths if the planned ones aren't useful. For some reason we call these "short cuts." I took this picture for my education blog to make the point that teachers who enforce rules for their own sake will always have them broken: don't give in to kids, but make sure the paths you make for them are ones they will actually take.

"Road to Nowhere"

Took this on my old 920(using 930 now) awhile back and edited with photoshop. Many roads like this you can find in Iceland that are surrounded in lavafields.

Took this pic about 3 weeks back using my Nokia Lumia 920
Location - Rohtang pass, Himalayas
We were driving back down from the mountain, beautiful scenery all around and I managed to click this picture. The shot probably covers 5KM or so of the journey back, you can view the path snaking below the mountains. I was pleasantly surprised at the superb clarity of the shot Its captured snow capped peaks and the mountains in the horizon very well.
