Weeks after: are you still happy?

I've had my 8x for over a week like and like it better now then when I first got and I liked it allot when I first got it. On my way to work I was just thinking how much I like the phone. The UI runs so smooth.

Loving my Nokia Lumia 820. Learning new elements daily and i think the platform on a whole is exciting. No complaints here. i think the experience is so much Smooother and visually stunning compared to IOS & Android.

As for the whole lack of apps etc nearly every app i used on IOS has a WP version or better alternative...

I'm really wanting to like my Lumia 822, but there are a couple of nagging things. First, i really thought 'live tile' meant that it would update at a minimum of 30 seconds after waking the phone. Native apps or 3rd party apps, no difference on my phone. Second, and a direct result of number one, with the live tiles not updating, the square, or rectangle 'tiles' on the home screen look really boring after a while. Having come from Android (HTC original Droid Incredible for 2.5 yrs), yes the Widgets did at least update.

Then then there are a few unexpected items that are really good. First, when using Nokia Drive+ and listening to music through the car stereo via blue tooth, when i get a text message the phone actually asks me to either read the message or ignore it. If I choose read, it then asks if I want to reply .... REALLY COOL !! Also, the Drive+ app gives speed limit warnings with an audible and visually 'red' alert ... no other phone app i've used has this functionality.

I know there would be 'growing pains' with WP8, but this is starting to really be a pain with the live tiles not updating. I left my Android phone because it was so hard to keep running. I had jail broke the phone over a year ago and have been installing custom ROM's ever since, only because of an update that Verizon and HTC pushed out almost 'broke' the phones functionality. No, my Lumia 822 is not 'broke' by any means, but when an highly advertised feature of LIVE TILES do not even come close to being "LIVE", it is really frustrating. I'm seriously considering exchanging the phone for something else, and as of today I don't have any idea of what phone this would be.

I don't think you understand if your live tiles updated everytime you woke up your phone you would not only use a bunch of data but also a lot of battery. Just like android most update every 30 minutes or so. I have NO issues with them updating. So not sure what you are expecting. I mean most are just for text emails and such. Things like CNN and other apps don't need to be updated every time you wake up the phone. But I know as soon as I get a text or an email my tile is updated. I am thinking you are having unrealistic expectations.

I got my Lumia 920 today I've had zero problems and also itc fken awsome 😁

I ordered mine on the 7th and received it on the 10th. It's been fantastic. I learn something new about the phone everyday. I was on a Evo with android. But my wife has an arrive so I know my way around the OS somewhat. I did have one freeze Wed when doing a nokia update. A soft reset took care of that. My battery life has been great. No heating problems. And the LTE speed is amazing.

I'm not a major app user but they have one for the few things I do use one for. Except for my bank and remote setting the dvr on fios. I can just use the web version on IE10 in the meantime for those two.

All in all, so far the switch, the phone and the experience has been everything I was looking for. And it can only get better with updates and tweaks after the 1st of the year.

So I guess everyone still likes their phone and finds it useful after the initial excitement of a new device has died down?

I had the same issue with live tiles. The Weather Channel would only ever update if I opened the app, if I didn't it wouldn't update. The ESPN app even when I opened it, wouldn't. It still showed the half time score from a game 3 days ago.

I discover still each days new cool things about my 8X, how could I be unhappy with such a beautiful phone?

My 822 is still the best device I've owned. All of the functionality I've ever needed with performance to spare. I've been fortunate in that I've never had a random reboot, or any of the other "issues" others are reporting. I just wish that WP8 would have come along sooner and spared me the time I spent investing in Android.

I have had the 8X for two weeks and love it. I almost traded for the Lumia 822 to get a shorter phone size but since my 8X has been flawless I didn't want to chance it. There are few kinks to work out but I expect they will be dealt with in various OTA updates. Overall, I have enjoyed my experience. I am coming from Android and still use an iPhone 4S for work.

I am very happy with my Lumia 820; that said, I had to go through a Lumia 920 and an HTC 8X (neither of which are bad phones, they're just not for me) to get here. :)

I am curious to know why your chose the 820 over the 920 and HTC 8X?

still a few small features missing (im sure an update will address that), but overall glad i decided to get my black 920 over the iphone 5. once apps come into the marketplace, this phone will be complete.

I made the same choice. It was easy. The Lumia 822 is expandable up to 64GB of additional storage with a $40 class 10 microSD card from Amazon. Viola, a 80GB capacity phone that has the same processor as the 920 and the 8x. The few feature differences between the 920 (and 8x I guess) are a little better screen resolution, better cameras, and a slightly different form factor. The camera means nothing to me because I have high quality digital HD video and still cameras that no phone camera can come close to, so the phone is just going to be used for quick, random photos, not archival quality. The screen resolution also means nothing because the 822 is beautiful. Do I need more beautiful? Not if I have to lock myself to a 16GB or 32GB phone where virtually everything else is equal. Look at the spec. Its about the camera really. Try comparing your phone to a truly high quality hand-held video camera. Nokia image stabilization looks like a sad joke when compare with the real thing.

as for the form factor, I do like the 8x and the 920, they are quite sleek. But I wrap my 822 in a chunky OtterBox Defender and my slim little 822 looks and feels like it is wearing a bat suit, and it feels great and safe and has traction. No brainer. I originally was going to wait for a 920 variant to come out on Verizon, since I didn't want to be an AT&T customer, but I am glad I decided not to and went with the 822 on VZ. I haven't looked back for a second. I am totally satisfied.

I had my Lumia 900 for 6 months and I was still enjoying it, the 920 is just a huge treat though, I love it.

I had every intention of keeping my 900 for another year or so, but it got dropped and got a big crack all the way across the glass about a month before the 920 was coming out (I swear this was not on purpose lol) so I went for a new phone.

My 822 is great. I love it. Came from a Trophy. The experience has been a huge upgrade and I have no regrets. The only problems I have had have been with live tiles not updating but from what I can tell so far these issues are mostly app related that developers need to fix. They are not OS related or phone related.

Had my 920 for a week. I feel like it should get better battery than it does, but other than that its been really good.
