went from unceasing notifications to NONE on fb messenger-win10 app

ok, so during the course of fixing that, I got it into my head to uninstall fb messenger win-10 app. now after reinstalling..I cant get it to squawk ANY notification bar a call notification.

...how do I fix this?

Have you tried to check the notification settings of Facebook and Messenger app itself? Then check the notification options in windows settings... Hoping you definitely find the problem in this whole cross check process...

messenger's in app notification settings only deal with previews and the do not disturb mode.
windows' own settings have a sound setting, banner and action center toggles..nowhere does it have a 'x number of alerts' setting.
