I'm just curious really as that is a good deal for the phone. $70 for the phone and $70 for plan which lets you immediately unlock it but I want to use it for T-Mobile

Unlike the one sold at the MS store, it has all of the right bands. Band 2,4, and 12, which makes it perfect for T-mo. However, I believe that Cricket requires 6 months of service before you can unlock the phone.

It's six months of service for sure. I'm sure if you Google for it, there are sites that will help you unlock the phone for a fee.

Sorry, the OP is correct:
$70 for plan which lets you immediately unlock it

It's the new policy since they rolled out the $70 plan. https://www.cricketwireless.com/legal-info/device-unlock-policy.html

Just be aware for the $70 phone you need to be a new customer and port your number in from another service. Then you have to wait for your unlock (probably about 3 days, just my guess) and then port your number back over to T-Mo. Sounds like a PITA to me.

The problem with paid unlock services is that they have no special access in most cases and would fail in the same circumstances that cause you to fail if you know the proper channels... The conditions are not met. Most paid unlock services are using the same methods a consumer would use. They just take advantage of consumer ignorance of the conditions, requirements and proper submission of the request. They are a surcharge for the lazy that don't do their own research.

None of which answers the OP's real question: does the Cricket version have what he needs to run on T-Mo.

From the Cricket Lumia 650 user guide (pg. 132):
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1700/2100 / 1900 / 2100
LTE Band 2 (1900) / Band 4 (1700/2100) / Band 5 (850) / Band 7 (2600) / Band 12 (700) / Band 28 (700)

Looks like a perfect match for T-MoUS to me.

Also note that you will loose T-Mo WiFi calling and VVM.

If you can live without the WiFi calling, cool.

For a great VVM use YouMail on the web and ISeeVM on the phone. ISeeVM is also UWP so you get your missed call and voicemail right on your PC...
