What do you do with your phone's NFC?

Re: What do you do with your phone's NFC? What are some of the better NFC writers?

I'll tell you what I hope to do with my phone's NFC. I want to tap a tag, turn on Wi-Fi and launch the remote to operate my Squeezebox Boom in one room and set up another to launch the Roku remote. I might want to add a few other bedside commands where I keep the Boom. Leaving home I usually forget to turn off my Wi-Fi so I might write a tag with additional commands like brighten the screen, disable Wi-Fi, etc. What are some of the better NFC writers? Is there a good writer for multiple actions? Using an NFC tag, can I turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on and off?

Last, it looks like any NFC tags on Amazon will work. Am I correct?

Thanks!

yeah pretty much any writeable NFC tags will work fine, you may find yourself investing money in a better app to get the functionality you want in the end as some of the free apps don't offer IFTT type of programming.

I've seen posts in this thread referring to using NFC to connect with Bluetooth headsets and speakers.
I'm confused here.. why do you need NFC for this? Isn't the connection based solely on Bluetooth? What does the NFC connection do?

Some Bluetooth speakers have an NFC tag area on them where if you tap it helps with the pairing process. So you don't need it but is seems easier than enable Bluetooth look for the device you want to connect with and tap to pair.

I will be using it to get files easily on my phone, as I'm awaiting delivery of an NFC enabled Yoga 260. That's the whole purpose of it to me.
I am considering getting a car stereo with NFC, for easy pairing of my phone (for music and hands-free talk).

As of yet, though, I don't use it for anything at all. Certainly not for e-wallets. I prefer to use my card.
