What do you think about Microsoft's advertising?

Read what I wrote, think about it, then watch the commercial and imagine if it is talking about WP instead of HTC One and it will make more sense.

I did watch that terrible advert. Now twice. All my points still stand.
If the advert applies to the HTC One, how can it apply to WP? Unless it's saying something so generic, untrue or unrelated to the product that it's pointless as well as insulting.

Surface Hero Mike Krahulik - YouTube

I think Microsoft should focus on making ads like these with people you can prove aren't just acting - this ad shows off so many of the Surface Pros' great advertising points. I'm not really a person you could prove exists through searching the internet but I wish I could apply somehow to be in my own Surface Pro ad! I would've added how well 3D design applications like AutoDesk Inventor rum on it, bit I guess that's not really his area of design.

Do you think that they are starting to do better at advertising or do you think they have been good at it?

WP marketing & advertising sucks!
I've said it time after time, since the early days of the platform.. WP doesn't, and never has had, sufficient, and consistent marketing, and I know that this is WP's BIGGEST PROBLEM... Bigger than the OS lacking features in 7.0, bigger than any so called app gap, and bigger than any hardware issues the platform saw back in the beginning.... Yes, MS does a horrible job advertising & creating awareness, for its smartphones platform, and it is the reason why WP has not relatively "taken off"...
...............
Marketing is, and always has been, WP's biggest issue, and if WP had sufficient marketing in the past, up until now, WP's market share would be a lot higher... To be honest, WP7.5 was, and still is, more than enough smartphone for the average user.. If marketed properly even back then the Lumia 900 could've challenged the likes of the iPhone, and GS2 from an adoption standpoint.... I swear that marketing is WP's biggest issue, and WP will take the long, hard, road to increased market share if marketing, and awareness is not increased DRASTICALLY very soon....

To be fair, Apple made the same advertising tactics with their famous "Buy a Mac" ads. So Apple started first.

I think some of their ads are very stupid. Scroogled comes to mind. Really, what did that accomplish? Seem the only thing that came out if it was google not putting apps on WP. IMO it did more damage to Microsoft than anything.

Someday I told that MS must not beg about WP! what the hell? Did you see their ads??? I beg you, that the only thing they can give us????

Here's what I don't get: why has MS invested so much into TV commercials for the Xbox, which I see almost daily, but basically nothing for WP? At the time of this post, I have now seen more ads for the amazon fire phone, which just came out, than I have for WP since WP first existed. MS even pushed more Surface ads than WP ads.

I stopped trying to figure out... if its not MY business, then it's not my business. I used to try to tell family/friends to try wp, and the no lag, and beautiful tiles, etc. I even got spouse/children on board...but i won't do the marketing for them. Honestly, nokias wedding commercial was sooo funny that it should have ran longer and in more media outlets. That commercial applies today, and it would definitely make a lasting impression. But, hey...if a multi billion dollar company can't figure out how to market it, then i don't know what else to say.

Seems to be blanket advertising for the Lumia 630/635 in Great Britain, the ad is on all the time. It's not very good, but then I don't think it's targeted at people who know what they're on about when it comes to phones.

There are two specific products that are marketed poorly but if they would be marketed and promoted well they would be a bigger success - these two products are Windows phone and PS Vita.
