What does Cortana do in the background?

Checked the Battery Saver app and seems the biggest battery drain is Cortana...but it's all under 'App in background'.

What exactly does Cortana do in the background to use the battery? If I block Cortana from running in the background the only change I can see is that Quiet Hours don't work.

Answers your calls while you are in Quiet Hours, checks what's on your calendar, reminds you of events, etc.

I think she wont learn anything about your live if you dont allow her to run in background.
