What happens if I remove the SIM but leave the SD memory card in?

Will my 550 work as a PDA on my WiFi network if I remove the SIM (Nano), but leave in the SD memory card (Micro)?

Basically you won't be able to make calls and send sms' but you can do just about everything else like browse the internet, use apps etc
