What I would do if I were one of the initial RT manufacturers

The surface will have the high end RT tablet segment locked up. There is almost nothing the OEM's can do to change that. So I think at least one should shoot for mod-low end with their first device. Go for a smaller screen, leave off bells and whistles like the rear camera, NFC, cellular connection, etc. Make a 7-8" tablet with respectable base specs, an okay to good screen, and a good looking design. Price it at $300-400. I know there will be a bigger market for higher end devices, but everyone else is going to target that market with their first device. S if you are the first manufacturer to target the mid-range ultra portable market, you will have that market to yourself the whole holiday season since ms isn't opening the floodgates until 2013.
