What is the circle under my cursor in word 2013 when using Win 10?

It prevents me from typing and I don't know how to prevent it or get rid of it.

It's the cursor handle for touch screens. Touch that circle with your finger and you can drag the cursor to where you want to move it.

I'm not sure why it would prevent you from typing.

Usually, starting typing will "get rid of it." Pete is right. It's meant to be part of the touch interface.
