What is the expected life time of a Surface Pro 4?

There have been many complains about the Pro 4 since the beginning. Most of them were firmware related and are solved. Concerning the hardware my trust has been significantly affected by the recent #flickergate which is also affecting me. I'm lucky that I get a free replacement (warranty). But others are not that lucky and need to pay. Even worse: there is no official statement from MS afaik addressing this.

I'm on my second almost 3 years. The first one had to get sent back for something or another so this one is the warranty replacement. I love the device and think they're pretty durable. I'm hasn't missed a beat. Knock on wood!

Well mine lasted all of 16 months and never even left my desk. Only watched Netflix and a couple of games and a little work but did not have a scratch dent or anything spilled on it. Motherboard went out I was told and they would replace it with a refurbished one for $500. If they want to compete it Apple, and put out a premium product, and expect us to pay premium prices they should back up their product with a little better than one year warranty. I'm selling the other one I bought my daughter and I'm going back to a MacBook.

I don't mind criticism, but the way this was written made me think that idevices never fail. However there is enough evidence to the contrary. I'm just saying.. using a device sparingly isn't any kind of guarantee that it will last.

Love my Surface Pro 4 however can say with confidence that no tech product has been more reliable for me over the years than my Macbooks. Outstanding build quality and the things will run forever if you take care of them. This SP4 has been an inconsistent pain in the %#!$ but I still love it for its form factor.
