What is the harm of using the home button when in apps

So when I'm in an app like the phone dialer, text message, internet, or mail and I hit the home button what is the harm in doing so? Bad battery life? the phone becoming sluggish?

I don't believe there is any harm. I use the home button all the time.

No harm, I do it all the time. No matter how the app is exited, the worst it will do is the same suspend it would do anyway. If you interrupt a process within the app, of course, you might mess something up within the app, but hitting the Home button isn't going to affect the phone.

There's zero "harm" in using the home button. That's why it's there -- to be used!

Ok awesome I just heard a lot of people saying to use the back button to exit an app to get better battery life

Some apps do keep running in the background, and those can eat up battery life.
