Nope. It's definitely NOT running in the background. Like I've said, my only two apps running in the background are the Weather Channel and T-Mobile MyAccount.

If I could develop a app or utility to do that, I'd already done it.

So far now all any of us can do it guess, or say it might be this or that and that's not good enough for me. That is like a sound shot or shooting at something in the dark you can not see.

Make sure you don't have any voicemails. I've seen the phones try to download visual voicemail but the carrier have a problem and it not being able to successfully. But the phone won't stop trying, eating the battery life pretty quickly.

Yes, but you won't find Battery Sense as an app or setting. The battery usage by app is just a view in Battery Saver in WP8.1
