What ROM to flash to an unlocked AT&T 640XL?

I have a 640XL that's the AT&T branded version. I have unlocked it and I'm not using on AT&T any more.

I REALLY want to get the AT&T flavoured ROM off there so I don't see the stupid AT&T splash screen on boot and also so it doesn't reinstall all of the AT&T crap whenever I hard reset.

What is a good vanilla ROM for this variant?

I'm not sure if we can flash those models, considering the ATT 830 couldn't be flashed.

yeah, I don't think there is any chance to flash a rom other than the one with the same model of your 640XL (e.g. RM-1096), and that ties it to ATT in your case.
Until recently you were able to change the boot logo via interop-unlock and using registry hacks. However, MSFT has patched the Extras and Info app and interop unlock is not possible at this moment on W8.1.
There is hope that it may be possible again in the future on W8.1 Update 2.

I have not tested this on W10M but it worked nicely on W8.1 in the past.

Odd, must be an AT&T thing. I have international 640 dual sim and I can flash any 640 dual sim ROM onto it.

So are you saying that AT&T does something to lock their phones so you can't flash any other 640 XL ROM onto them? Is that what they did with the 830 mentioned?

Yes. AT&T has their own boot signature that prevents installing any other variant.

You might get lucky, or just brick your phone, by following the instructions in the 635/820 unbranding thread.
