What will Cortana sound like?

Her responses are not robotic in the least. She speaks fluently and smoothly. You'll get to see on April 14th.

I've watched the video and some things is a real voice but most of her is still computer generated witch has its good and bad points, if she was a 100% human voice she would be pretty limited on what she can say, just names of restaurants alone would take years to pre record. I'm by no means knocking it at all just a little disappointed most of her voice will be faked.

My take? She's going to record more, and more and more of Cortana will be her voice, but there will always be the need to use computer generation, as there is no way to record every single word, in every single inflection of the voice. I believe it is going to get better over time. Remember, it is beta. :wink:

I read somewhere that Cortana has a male voice also? Dont quote me on that. But you can choose between the two. And also i think she is only available in the us for beta.

Oh yeah I know she is not gonna be out for ages in Ireland and UK but I hope they give us a choice of choosing if we want male or female. I was also thinking that since she is "based" on a character from Halo that may stop them from changing it to male. Siri was pulled out of nowhere where as Cortana is already an AI in game.

I remember reading somewhere that there are multiple voices for cortana right now just to get all the words down, but as time progresses, more and more Jen.

Maybe the recordings are for syllables, so almost anything could be pronounced. Except that wouldn't explain why it's still being recorded.
