Whats involved in a cumulative update?

I installed 10 on my 2 in 1 today and when updating I only saw one cumulative update along with my other various bits, specifically KB3081438. Does the cumulative update include the bits involved in the earlier updates, meaning whenever you install you only get the latest version? Or am i missing some updates? Help me put my mind at ease please.
