Whatsapp causing constant reboots on Lumia 950 and Lumia 550

Hey Guys,

Since last one month whatsapp has been acting quite weird on my Lumia 950 and my dad's Lumia 550. Both are on Windows Phone .29 build. Original configuration , no insiders preview.

Whenever we browse through whatsapp , whatsapp freezes and reboots the phone. We uninstalled whatsapp , reinstalled but that hasnt helped at all.

On my Lumia 950 ive noticed keyboard to stop working inside whatsapp and eventually causing phone to reboot. I am not sure whats causing the issue. Issue is on Wifi as well as cellular data.

Its affection both 950 and 550. Today whatsapp update did not help fix the issue.

Did you try to install it on alternate memory? i.e. if rt now its on Phone Memory, did you try on card?

Thanks but Whatsapp cannot be installed on SD card. It only installs on phone memory.

I think I have resolved the issue. Here is what I did.

Firstly , i contacted MS support who asked me to remove the screen guard. They said sensitive touch screen and incompatible screen guard could be the issue. Found the point to be valid and removed the screen guard. But that did not help.

Again contacted MS support who asked me to reset the phone or use device recovery tool. Since I had already tried that , they decided to pick up the phone for repairs.

Even though pickup is scheduled , I did look up online and came across this article.

Turned off all keyboard settings. Rebooted the phone. Turned them on again one by one and rebooted and its seems the issue is resolved.

I need to try this out on my dad's Lumia 550. He too has tempered glass installed. This time will try keyboard settings first before removing the tempered glass.

I found today That v can share contacts thru WhatsApp apart from pictures.....is thus after the recent update or was it earlier...if it's recent then a good addition on par with other platforms....

Thats there since long. at least I used it last Oct if I remember correctly.

Having this issue at this very moment. Finished updating to .71 via slow ring, and whatsapp is ok for now. i'll update if this issue occurs again
