When will the WP 8.1 update 2 be available?

Microsoft is known to do things quietly behind the scene and then all of a sudden hit the go button. So it would be released around that time or maybe within a week from the said date.

GDR3 was announced and released simultaneously

No he's not!

Denim is the firmware, GDR1 is an update of the operating system..... two different things.

Only Nokia devices will get Denim, but GDR1 will eventually be available to any make of WP.

have update 1 on my 1520 running DP and cyan.
if update1 were denim, my phone would state as such.
it doesn't. therefore, I do not believe that it is denim.

Amber, Black, Cyan and Denim are firmwares.

Windows Phone 8, 8 GDR1, 8 GDR2, 8 GDR3, 8.1, 8.1 Update 1 are all OS updates.

Firmware updates are Lumia exclusives, while everyone gets OS updates. However, they're not the same, only come out at the same time to make Lumia phones that much better.

Stop putting them in the same category, thank you.

Sorry, bit of a habit to roll GDR's and Lumia firmwares into one because normally for Nokia devices the Lumia update brings the features of the GDR. This does not apply to other manufacturers.

I would expect some announcement on 27-28 October at TechEd Barcelona, since Joe B will be there and he is always (almost) a part of some WP announcements.
I was hoping previous rumours about 8 October will be true, but instead I look forward to the end of October.

Everyone seems to be confused with GDR 1 and Denim. Denim is specific to Lumia phones. When MS says Denim it means WP8.1 GDR1 along with the required firmware clubbed together.
