When will we see High End 8" devices

So after having used a few different devices over the last 2 years since the release of WIndows 8 I am now starting to think the right mix is a Surface Pro 3 and an 8" device.

I have owned the Surface Pro 1,2 & 3. RT and Surface 2 and a Dell Venue Pro 8. Right now I have a Venue Pro 8 64gb, Surface Pro 3 128gb and a Surface 2 64gb. And I use a Lenovo x1 Carbon i7 256gb for my work laptop.

I am wanting to sell the Surface 2 and Venue 8 and get a high end 8" tablet. unfortunately the only one that looks somewhat appealing is the Lenovo thinkpad 8. however its no longer being sold by Lenovo and its non a huge upgrade from my Venue 8.

I just saw the new Dell Venue 8 7000 android and the hardware looks great. I wont go to a non windows tablet but I have not seen anything about a high end windows 8" devices coming out soon. everything that was reviewed at IFA (or what ever that tech show was) was all focused on low end and would be a step down from my Venue 8.

MS please step up to the plate and bring a very high end 8" device to market SOON.

Please let me know if I am missing something that would have the following specs:
64gb storage or more
full HD or higher display
very thin
light
ideally a nicely integrated cover like that of a surface or the Lenovo Quickshot Cover

at this size I don't care if its RT of full W8...

I would love to see more high end 8" tablets. Right now that category is being dominated by everyone not named Microsoft. Most Android tablet OEMs can use various Tegra and Snapdragon processors while Microsoft is stuck with Intel for full Windows 8 tablets. Most OEMs, presumably to keep costs down, are using the low-end Atom chips. Here's a quick breakdown from CPU World. Although the "cheap" Atom 3735F processor supposedly supports 1900x1200 resolution most OEMs aren't using it. Shame because screen resolution really does help to sell tablets.

just took a look at the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S. thin, light, and ultra HD screen. technology is there. we just need someone to build it on the windows ecosystem.

IMO this 8" segment looks like it needs MS to show what can be done like they are doing with 10" and 12" surface...

Exactly, and running RT not full Windows. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Windows Phone / RT are merging, so you'll start seeing two options I think ...Windows ARM tablets (phone+tablet arm apps) and Windows Intel tablets (tablet + desktop apps). Your choice, though the Intel tablets will always be more powerful I think. Cherrytrail is coming out soon, and Intel core M (broadwell) can power tablets as well.

The ThinkPad 8 is your only option right now, and you can find it for sale if you look. The Dell 7000 you mentioned looks AMAZING. I really think they'll just slap a 'Pro' on it and have it run Windows, just like they did with the Venue 8. I'd wait for a slew of new devices in the next 6 months.

It isn't considered "high end", but the upcoming Toshiba Encore 2 Write looks like the type of device that I've been waiting for.

Got sick of waiting so I picked up a Thinkpad 8. MS had a flash sale for $99 that lasted for 2 min. I missed it but I picked up one on ebay for $240. So far it is a nice upgrade from the DV8.

ThinkPad has video output, higher resolution, and standard USB I believe.

Full HD, a tad bigger screen, thinner, hdmi out, faster processor, start button on screen, much nicer build quality. Clip on cover that turns the device off and is very slim.
