When you downgrade to 8.1, do you keep your apps?

I recently upgraded my Lumia 1020 to Windows 10, and now it is horrifically slow. I want to downgrade back to WP8.1 but I don't want to loose apps that are no longer available (such as Lumia Storyteller and Photosynth). If I downgrade back to 8.1 will my current apps stay installed or will I be doomed and have the apps lost forever?

when you downgrade you'll lose whatever apps on your phone, but after downgrade you can go into Store, select My Apps , and select what apps you previously had downloaded and let your phone download all

Create a backup of apps and settings before dooowngrade, then downgrade. Not sure if the backups from W10M work with WP8, but if it does, you would just lose the apps that work only on W10M.

The apps that work on w10m will work on 8.1 if the app was originally designed for it.
