PROBLEMS AFTER UPDATE!!!
Can anyone shed some light on an issue I'm experiencing post WP8.1 upgrade on my L925? A number of my apps have disappeared from the home screen and although they still appear in the apps list, I'm not able to pin them to the home screen (the pin-to link is greyed out. Some of these are built in apps like Photos.

Sounds like you may need the "Soft Reset" which is just a phone reboot.

Open the Store and let it check for updates for your apps. Install any it find's. Also, I know when I switched my pc's from Windows 8 to 8.1 some apps were no longer compatible. A list of the app's could help us solve your issue, too.

I had this same issue on my phone. Turns out it was waiting for a WiFi signal as it was set to only Dow load them by wifij (there were over a hundred greyed out). Once I turned WiFi on and reconected it (the update lost the saved login information). The apps started Downloading and once done everything worked again.

I'm not sure if there's a way to force it to reinstall the likes of Photos is there? these are built-in apps, right?
Had WiFi connection all the way through.
I also now have atrocious battery life... get 15 hours max with light usage. Is there anything I should look for that causes undue battery drain in 8.1??. Really reluctant to do a complete reset as I have a number of games that will loose all their history.

Check your email settings, it might be on receive as they arrive, or depending on usage. This can really kill the battery.
