I bought the 1520 from ATT on release with 8.0.
While I had no complaints about the hardware, (other than the "sealed" battery) the firmware seemed a step backwards from WinMo 6.0 and 6.5x.
Windows phone 8.1 and the subsequent updates vastly improved my experience.
On paper, the 950XL is the device I wanted. My buyers remorse stems from the cost. While the firmware can be fixed, the cost prohibits me from also buying a Nexus, or something else, to "play" with. (I have to answer to my Wife, as well as my wallet)
I need to keep reminding myself of the selling points of the 950XL, and satisfy my device Lust through buying other devices for my family.
