Who controls the release fo the new firmware?

The reason I ask is that the only way I got the last firmware was to buy a new 950xl (found this out by accident not choice)

I am on UK EE pay as you go sim using unlocked MS store 950xl
I would be quite happy to ditch EE if I find a responsive Service provider

Has anyone got any idea of a replacement for EE in uk?

If you bought a SIM unlocked phone then you're free of any service provider and MS will provide you with updates.

If you have a branded EE phone (check About in settings) than you're stuck waiting for approvals from EE,

Saying that, if you use the Insider Program it may not be an issue - Microsoft details plan to enable firmware updates for Windows 10 Mobile Insiders | Windows Central

After reading more forums im not convinced now maybe EE has final say in firmware due to radio software etc

Has anyone got the new firmware in UK on EE or any other UK service provider im considering junking EE they are so slow and annoying ?

Dont worry, not everyone is receiving the latest firmware yet regardless of your carrier. I've a unlocked/unbranded Lumia 950 XL and live in the netherlands, still not received the latest firmware yet.
