It's getting closer. We are hearing rumors of Broadwell Chip.... Fanless... Thinner... Built for Windows 10...

Who's been waiting for a Surface Pro 4? Who's ready? Who has their wallet open and is saying, "Shut up and take my money!"

(well, if it was more repair friendly I guess, I just wanted to post the picture)

Actually, after 6 months using a ThinkPad 10 with a puny Bay Trail CPU I'm thinking the SP4 is way overpowered for me. The ThinkPad handles pretty much everything I need.

A Surface 3 is more up my alley. I like the 10" form factor myself.

I'm a student next year and am pretty sure about buying a Surface Pro.
The only problem is I don't know if I should wait for the SP4 or just go with the SP3 (i5, 256GB ssd, 8GB ram), because neither the rumours nor Microsoft have told if the SP4 will be released before the upcoming Back 2 School season.

But I think the SP4 will come with the launch of Windows 10, since this is the most logical step to take for Microsoft, because:
  • The SP4 is perfect to show off Windows 10's features
  • A new Surface with Windows 10 out of the box wouldn't be strange and would be loved by the consumers
  • Students are one of the Surface's target, so being too late for the new school year would cost them a lot of sales.
  • The SP3 is "already" 1 year old.
  • New software = new hardware?

Do you guys agree?

I hope MS releases it before the end of September. I'm going to college then, and I either want this or a Surface Pro 3 or Surface 3.

I don't need more power than the previous gen, I only want better battery life than Surface Pro 3. If so, instant buy.

An SP3 or even an Surface 3 is great for school, you have the pen for taking down notes and enough storage for your projects and stuff

I'm loving my Surface Pro 3 too much to think about getting a Surface Pro 4 right now. But I'm sure it'll be a great device. The Surface Pro 3 just meets my needs really well.

I'd say count me in, but it seems like my wallet has ran away with my bank card...just hope it has not taken a rather expensive trip over the moon... :grincry:

i'm getting one for sure! :) for audio production... hook it to external screen, and you get the touch screen for mixer controls! :) woohooo!! :D

Still hoping to see some real innovation as the product continues to evolve.

A bluetooth-powered typecover or a further iteration of the pen which would allow it to be used as a laserpointer or sth. comparable are just some of the enhancements I would love to see.

If they include the ability to hook up an external graphics card (i.e. through a thunderbolt port and ViDock nano) then they've got a sale. It's the only (crucial) thing stopping me from ditching my current laptop and tablet combo.

Have you checked out the DisplayLink docks?
Thank you for your reply but I'm not looking to just attach an additional external monitor but to attach an external graphics card capable of running games. Sorry for the confusion, I should have made myself more clear. As I understand it, USB doesn't have the capacity for this so it requires a different port be installed on the device :/

Problem is, it wont fit in my SP3 dock, and Im not going to spend $250 on a new dock! Besides, my SP3 is fantastic so far so no reason to change just yet.

They are horrible. Since the displaylink drivers are really ready for windows 8.1 (or 10 for that matter) it causes a lot of hiccups.
Especially if youre a power user and disconnect from the dock often, using it is a headache. Plus every so often the drivers get clobbered and you have to do a full uninstall/fresh install to get it working again.

Getting over the hiccups doesn't take long in either 8.1 or 10TP - there's an official tool to cleanup any issues that installing other display drivers can cause. Once that's done, no such issues. And I dock/undock multiple times a day.

Me me me me me me :excited:

I love my SPro 3, but I want the rumored 16gb/1tb upgrade model. Don't know if I'd consider 14" (unless nearly same form factor - less bezel please). I just need more room to roam on that SSD, and why go half when you can go whole TB? By the way Panos, throw in one more USB 3 port please (or if you have to, even a USB 3.1 Type C to go with standard USB 3).
