Why am I getting a message when I try to download an app?

windows app store and accounts not working

Before downloading an app, it comes up with "Call us overprotective" and asks me how I would like to receive my code. The problem is, the email account I set up, ages ago, apparently does not exist.
Also, I sometimes get an error code: 8004884b

Thanks for any help, I have no idea what to do.

The code you are seeing is second factor authentication. I recommend signing into the account on your PC and checking your 2 factor authentication options in the settings. You can use your phone, via the Authenticator app. You can also provide a valid email address, or a telephone number that can be called or texted for a code.
