Why are deleted emails showing up in Hotmail on my phone?

From my laptop (or desktop PC), I delete mails, from the inbox and from the "deleted" folder, but they still appear when I open Hotmail on my phone.

This even occurs after I sync.

Nokia Lumia 925, Windows 8.1 Update.
