Why are the @, and key mixed up?

Why are the @ and

I have just bought a Lenovo Yoga 3 and have had trouble setting up. After many password resets for loading on the system and loading on Office and Security software I realised that the @ and " keys were mixed up. This showed up when I first selected English (UK) as the default, and then disappeared when I changed it to English (US), but appeared again when I tried to type in passwords.

Did this ever get resolved?

I have this issue wit hthe account I have set up for my son. Works fine on my 'master' log in, but i canlt get it to work on my son's log in.
