Why Are The No Notification Icons in the Top Notification Bar

I am using a Lumia 1520 and I recently noticed all of the notification icons (text, email, call, etc) no longer appear in the top notification bar. When I drag the bar down, they still appear as normal.

Does anyone know what setting might have changed to cause this? Thanks
