Why can't all tiles be re-sized to large?

why can't all tiles be resized to large?

Some tiles, eg MS Calendar, can have a large tile on the start screen, while other apps can only be small, medium or wide; or even just small or medium
Now I thought this might be the app developer choice except I had an app installed that got the big tile. I resized it too wide to see, then decided to go back to large and it would not let me. Live tile btw.

I believe it is the developer's choice, not sure what happened in your situation though?

Maybe the app was updated which disabled he large tile, The restriction might not have been put in place on your machine until you changed the tile to a different size. You could try unpinning and repining the app?

but I tried it within a hour or so of installing the app., so that was a pretty quick update by the developer; and why would they?
yep have tried un/re-pinning. no joy.

I know !! Would be handy if you could resize IE as is screwing with my OCD !! lol .....

I know i's no ideal but have you tried reinstalling the app?

from a developer:
"... that's a limitation of Windows for now. Only the default app tile can have the "large" size. I think there will be more room for customization in the new Windows 10 release coming this year... "

It's because the developers didn't support a large version of their app's tile. It's not mandatory when you submit an app so many devs just skip it.
