Why can't I add my Hotmail and Outlook email accounts to the same phone?

I use my Hotmail account as my Microsoft account, but I also have an Outlook.com email account too. I successfully added the Hotmail email account to my phone but it won't let me add the outlook one...

What message do you receive when trying this?

Soft reset the phone, go to email+acc, tap on "add an acc", select outlook and follow instructions

Add an outlook.com account, settings, email+accounts, add an account.

If I'm correct, I think he means he can't add another Microsoft Account because his phone says there is Already one.

I have an Outlook and Office365 account on my phone, but when I try to add another Outlook account it fails. When I try to add an account it says it is going to take me to Outlook.com "to authorize Windows Phone to access your account", whatever that means. When I hit connect it just goes back to the same message and doesn't do anything useful. I don't need it, I was just trying to see what the OP was talking about.

When I hit connect, it actually takes me to the MS page to sign-in

Another way to approach this.. Go to login.live.com, sign in, open manage aliases and add a new one.. Just follow the instructions
