Why can't I install fonts by dragging them into the fonts panel?

I have always used the same method of installing fonts: Drag the OFT / TTF file into Controlpanel/Fonts. Always worked fine.

However, since a while this simply does not work any more. Nothing happens when I drag a file into this panel, not even an error message showing up.

This is a huge issue for me since I often have to install font families with 20+ variations, so manually installing them all the time is not really an option.

Try using File Explorer and copying them into C:\Windows\Fonts

That's how I've always done it and never had a problem on any version.

Can you not right-click the font file and the menu has an Install option?
