Why did you decide to buy a windows phone?

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Nokia.

No special story. It was what ran on Nokia phones. Plain and simple. If Nokia had gone Android, I'd be using Android, if Nokia had gone iOS, I'd be using iOS, if they had gone back to the software of the 3310, I'd be using it.
Not the most exciting of stories I'm afraid.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Wanted the security of iPhone without the company of Apple.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I was fed up of app crashes and bad build quality.. also liked the top notch cameras that Nokia had

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

The live tiles had always had me wondering since I first heard of windows phone back in 2010-2011 ish. I had a mytouch 4g that was getting pretty laggy and slow so my birthday last year I decided to get the HTC 8X. Loved it!!

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

A sales rep at the ATT store recommended the Samsung Focus when I went in to buy an iPhone in December, 2010. I think this is the only documented case in history of an ATT sales rep recommending WP.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I really fell in love with the UI. Had some feature phones before and really needed functions like inbuilt facebook etc. Other functions like inbaked qrcode reader or Bing music scan were nice to have's that made tasks faster than before...
Due to my small budget, owning a smartphone was a lovely dream for a long time... Androids were cheaper but I adored the UI, concept of hubs and live tiles. So I started with a HTC Mozart! Used it till few weeks ago, now I am happy to own a Lumia 625.
Never thought, it would be that different to WP7.8!
Missing my old messages though!

The desire to be productive. I use SharePoint a whole lot and of course office and outlook. When I read about how WP 8 can integrate all of that, I was sold. And the UI just rocks! I love live tiles, I just do...

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I picked up a Windows Phone moving from webOS because of the similar social integration. In addition, I really enjoyed the design of the Lumia 920.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Dell Venue Pro was my first Windows Phone, but I bought Windows Phone in general because I loved the design. It was fresh!

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Simple: Attractive use of minimalism in a operating system. Bonus: Heavily invested in Zune so I had music to boot. My first WP was the HTC surround.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

The well designed UI, primarily because it was based on white-on-black text which I'm absolutely obsessed with.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Nokia. And not being laggy like Android.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I wanted to change my phone (had an iPhone 4). I wanted a good phone. I saw the windows phones and their design was amazing and the price even better. I bought a Lumia 925.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

What attracted me to windows phone is how its different. I don't like mainstream products. I chose to defy that idea of android and apple taking over the technology world. It was just an idea in my head in the beginning. There was also this quote I read in one of the reviews on phonearena.com (before I heard about wpcentral :p) that stated that the Microsoft keyboard was the best in typing. Im a texty text guy. So I found that really attractive about the platform. I liked the idea that's so personal and that you can choose the sizes of the apps on you home screen. Why should I be bound by icons of the same size with endless homescreens. You only need one home screen , just one. And finally, my mind was set when I found out that Nokia I microsofts new partner. I've always been a Nokia fan. So I gave Microsoft a chance with the fist flagship (800,900) and I directly got my 920 because I knew it was the perfecto phone for me

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

My first windows phone was a WP7 Samsung Focus S. I liked it because at the time, it had pretty great specs, and I really liked the design of windows phone. I figured it would work well with the laptop I was about to get, and my XBOX 360. I think one of my favorite things was the ability to post to facebook and twitter off of the me tile, as well as check in. Shame that feature went away. As that phone faded, I went to a focus 2, and eventually I picked up the Nokia 520 because I didn't want to use up a contract renewal. I didn't get the lumia 1020 solely because an update was coming out soon, and the screen wasn't at a HD 1080p resolution.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I picked it due to Zune music pass. Zune was the best.. Wp7 was not bad and wp8 was ok.... I know ygeh unbundled it in 8.1 and its getting back to where it needs to be.

I firmly believe WP can own the midrange with music and video

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

UI, simplicity, live tiles, not going with the sheep

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Quite simply, Nokia hardware.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

My first Choice is Nokia and Symbian , but now no new Symbian phone.. so with Windows. Still think 808/8/N9 with a better processor with Symbian would be great buy than windows with Elop....

I hate the App crap, Apps are for missing functionality in the OS... Symbian had it all,:love::kiss:

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

The 521 was my first Windows Phone and it was purely by accident. I set out to Best Buy one day, knowing I wanted a smarter phone. I had an old Motorola flip phone - sadly I don't recall the actual name. What got me going was my whole family was always upgrading to a new phone; iPhone, Android for a select few. My 12-year-old brother and sister both had much better phones than I.

The 521 is a great phone but it lacked power, a good camera, music space, and battery life. I later got a Lumia Icon, thanks to WPCentral for sharing a promo.
