Why did you decide to buy a windows phone?

I was an Android user for 5 years and I got bored and fairly frustrated with how every phone I owned or my friend did got slow and really buggy after some time. I mean that's normal to some extent, but it is really irritating.
I did have my eye on windowsphone devices but the only thing that was keeping me away from them was the lack of apps. After checking the market I was surprised that almost all apps that I use on Android were available. Well actually all essential.
After that my friend tells me he's got a Lumia 630. Which is pretty much a budget phone. He told me that everything runs smoothly and no lag at all. I was a bit skeptical I admit. I had my eyes on 930, so even if he was experiencing some issues I was to hope they would be non existent on a high end device like 930. So I ordered the device and here are my thoughts. Keep in mind I've only had it for a few days so far.
Lumia 930s display is gorgeous and the device itself is very beautiful to look at and feels good in the hand. OS is very beautiful and works great. Never had any stutter or crashes. All apps that I use are on the market. And I actually have more apps installed without the fear that it's going to show down me phone. Only app lacking is Snapchat. And I really do hope that it's coming soon. Camera is amazing and I love it very much. Overall performance is great. Battery life is something I'm getting used to, since I always have the phone in my hands when I'm home so I really don't care since I have the charger in my arms reach. But when I'm out and my usage is moderated it lasts me the whole day. Only thing I'm experiencing is some heating but I hear that is sorted with denim.
So that's it. 😁

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

My first "smart-phone" was a Nokia Lumia 920. I chose this for many reasons: Windows was new and fresh (not many people I knew had one). I trusted he Nokia brand and for the xbox functionality

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I always wanted a Lumia
But the Windows Phone 10. ..looks ugly... i hope Microsoft will stay to metro modern and dont modify the UI

I'll never voluntarily buy iPhone, and I used android until it got boring. Been using WP for over a year now and not bored yet.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

AT&T Rep (shocker) picked it for me it was a Samsung Focus and also my first smartphone (never had a phone before) after that I've been Windows Phone (ONLY) ever since.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

1st phone was a really old Nokia, the brick ones.

Then it became the Samsung S3. Hated it so much since it constantly overheats, lags and occasionally causes my ears to go deaf (problem with the volume button, cranks up by itself sometimes).

Moved to the Lumia 520 after that, wanting to test WP waters. Was not satisfied due to the lack of apps, and an unsatisfying experience overall.

Then I moved to the Xperia Z2, allured by it's design. Was very satisfied, until after a year I faced challenges. Parents kept complaining that they can't hear me when I call, so it's a microphone problem. Then the battery started draining very fast. Pictures were also duplicated, so I would see 3 to 4 of the same pictures. Gets annoying.

After that, I missed WP and wanted to go all in with Microsoft due to my Surface 2 tablet. Wanted to get a flagship WP, but there's only the 930 and it occasionally overheats after seeing demos in shops. Then I went for the 730, and now it's probably my 2nd favorite phone, behind the Xperia Z2 (that baby served me well, but times do go by). No lags, long battery life, a more mature ecosystem and a very satisfying experience.

Tl;dr Was always interested in WP, but wasn't sure during WP8. After WP8.1 came out + Lumia 730 performance, I was convinced this is the ecosystem that I fell in love with.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I started out with a Blackberry Torch and I did like that phone as a phone, but I traded it for a Motorola Android and it was ok but Android reminds me of old flip phone when it comes to the Menu's, you had to dig through layers to get to what you wanted, To Androids credit it has got a lot better. But anyway, I was due an upgrade so I went to look and the 900 had just come out that very day, and I fell in love with the look, feel and how the OS worked, a 920 followed the 900 and I bought a used 1020 but went back to the 920 and now have a M8 and a Dell Venue pro Win 8 Tablet, But to Androids credit I do own a Nexus 7 and I do like it. and I did try a M7 for a while but for me Android just don't cut it when it comes to my phone. Windows is so smooth and easy to operate, I have high hopes for Windows 10.

It is easy to operate idk why but to people I used demonstrate to always said it's confusing to use.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Since Nokia, stopped making Symbian phones, I gave the Lumia 800 a shot back in 2011. Nokia since 2000. I'm currently using a L830.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I found iPhones to be locked down and pricey, and I had three android devices that were laggy, ugly, and I could never get them to work quite the way I wanted them to

I saw a Lumia 900 on Amazon and it was beautiful

The hypnotoad made me buy one.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I used to have an iPod touch. My brother spoiled water on it, so I "upgraded" to the Zune HD. I had other Zunes before, so it was natural. Anyway, I got to looking if Microsoft was doing anything with a Zune Phone, similar to how Apple had the iPod touch and iPhone. Lo and behold, they did. This was before any actual handsets were out, and I waited patiently to upgrade my feature phone to a smart phone, the HTC Trophy on Verizon. Next phone was Lumia 928, and now it's the Lumia Icon.

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Since I was 3 I had been plying with windows os, can't quite remember which I had from 93-96 but windows 95 has always been in my memories. Got an htc windows phone in like 07 back when WP was like bb. Muddled through for a few years, got a Zune HD, loved it. Had a gs3 from 2012-2014, then I got my icon. I love love love love love my icon

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

I chose a windows phone because my first smartphone was an HD2 with winodws mobile 6.5.x. Everything after that evolved naturally to winodws phone. I also use windows alot and both complement each other nicely. I've come to accept microsofts perks with the OS, just as every OS has their perks. Tried android on a Samung Note 1 for a short while, but it didnt fit well in my workflow and I noticed I was tweaking more with android to get things my way, than getting things done. For me windows phone changed that. Much happier now. Currently I also own a lumia 1520. I love it to bits!

Re: So what made you pick a windows phone in the first place?

Everything else is windows, why not my phone ?? Now with windows 10, I have no regrets and I really dislike everything I am seeing in windows 10. BUT its a preview build to I will save my bi*ching for the end. My house is only windows now and it has saved time trying to figure out how to make things work. I am an IT guy and its nice to not have to fix stuff at home like I do at work.

GO WINDOWS!
