Why did you decide to buy a windows phone?

I wanted to try WP so I got a Ativ S.. It is a decent phone with great battery life. However I will be going back to Android as WP is so slow when compared to it. Also I am not overly impressed with Nokia having had a couple in the past so that does not attract me as they are the main choice. I will stick the 8.1 preview on the Ativ S when it comes out. If it is any good I will keep it to go with my new phone otherwise I am selling it.

What do you mean by slow? I also came from Android and the 521 seemed faster than my 1 years old Android phone. You're phone is similar to my 925 which is much faster than the 521. What's slow about it? Just curious to know.

I came from several Blackberries. I didn't like what I saw with the T-Mobile G1, and iPhone was ATT exclusive for a while. But really, I refuse to get a phone that I simply don't like, just because everyone else thinks its cool. I've always liked Windows, and Xbox, and that hasn't changed at all yet.

I sure hope Windows Phone/9 blows our f-ing minds out of the water. It'd be nice to finally push one particular friend I know, off of Galaxy. :)

I have actually been with Windows Phone from the beginning! (1st Gen WP7). I had a Palm Pre Plus (webOS) with Verizon that I loved at the time, but they had no support and the OS was in trouble. I was in the process of switching to AT&T and I just graduated college with no job so I was on a budget lol. I had to decide between a LG Quantum or the Android Phone with the blackberry keyboard (both were just a penny with a new contract). What made me choose WP over Android were just a few simple things 1) The look of WP was very modern and refreshing (back then Android looked old and dated) 2) ZERO LAG. Literally EVERY Android device I tested out back then had some type of lag (even the high-end phones) so that basically sealed the deal for me and I have been with WP ever since. Started with the LG Quantum, then HTC Titan, then the 920, and now the 1020. My work phone is an iPhone but not my cup of tea. I love Windows Phone and have no intention of switching. *takes breath* ok I'm done people just had to get that off my chest! Lol

Was bored of black n white phones..boring OS....tried using HTC HD7 which I really liked..so I got yellow 520 and yellow 820

sent either from my Nokia Lumia 820 or HTC Desire HD

I don't think I ever replied to this thread.

Anyways, it was midway through last year. I had used the others throughout the past few years, an HTC Aria with Cyanogenmod, a 4th generation iPod touch, a couple Treos and a multitude of Palm PDAs.
I was looking for something new to try and Windows Phone was at the top of my list. It was around the time I started seriously getting into Windows 8 and the whole MS ecosystem. Another perk is its uniqueness among a literal sea of iPhones and Galaxies. (and some Nexii)
Now all I have to try left is Symbian and Blackberry. (maybe newer things too)

Probably will update soon.

I was using a Motorola flip phone back in 2010 because I luckily couldn't afford to fall prey to the iPhone front. My upgrade came along at pretty much the same weekend that the Samsung Focus became available on AT&T. I've always pulled for the underdogs, strayed from the mainstream, so I upgraded to the Focus. I've stuck with it ever since....Titan, Titan II, 920, HTC 8X, 1320, and 1520.

Well I decided to buy a windows phone because of after sales support. Maybe its late but better than never. Compared to android you don't know if your phone is still has a software update or not. On windows phone 8 devices has able to update to 8.1 and future update (maybe?). Whether you are using a low end or an high end phones. Next thing is the camera. I love Nokia camera and applications. I don't need tons of application for the photo. All are the same. Not really into games. I do believe WP are virus free. I love the feature on the computer when in case your phone got stolen. You are able to alarm it, lock it and erase it incase you are not able to find it. I am still satisfied so far with my WP8. If things go well I will still go with WP. 👍👌

I bought a windows phone because I found a cheap one with a busted screen on eBay and decided to buy it and have an afternoon of it fixing it up.

My first smartphone was an HTC HD7. (WP7.0) I was already intrigued by the design philosophy. (info at a glance so your face isn't constantly stuck in your phone) And a friend who was managing a carrier kiosk told me about the Xbox Live and Zune Music Pass and I was sold. It was a terrible phone. The battery was too small, the reception was weak, it would freeze up periodically, requiring a battery pull... The list goes on. But I absolutely loved the software. 14 months into my contract, the damn thing crapped out on me. Fortunately WP8 had just dropped, and I picked up the Samsung Ativ S I'm typing this on now. (I wanted a Lumia 920 but my carrier hates Nokia) Now I have great hardware to match the brilliant software, and it gets better with every update! I can't wait for the 8.1 preview!...

I had the first MyTouch and then the G2. Seemed like they both worked well enough for 6 months or so then it became a painful experience. My G2 bricked once due to software and again due to a faulty earpiece speaker. I was frustrated and my brother recommended WP. I found a used Radar for cheap. I enjoy watching the capabilities, ecosystem, and community grow. I really don't want it to get too big, though. Is it wrong of me to wish that? Haha

My first windows phone was an LG quantum that a friend donated when my little Nokia 6790 died. (that Nokia would go for days on one charge). I loved the physical keyboard on the LG but more importantly, the phone just felt comfortable and "right" to use. I think you guys call it an intuitive OS. Anyway, loved it and have used a WP ever since. No regrets.

Zune and the tight integration that was once there with WP7 got me to jump on the 8X when it was released. I didn't really like the HTC Trophy.

Little did I know the Zune player would not be able to sync, but I've grown happier with XBox Music lately so I'll be with WP for awhile. Its so fast and fluid, and I absolutely cannot stand Android devices. I was once a fan, but not anymore. Outlook, Calendar and Windows Phone more than fit my needs. I will.miss Google Voice when that stood working however.

The design of the OS and the design of the phone (Nokia Lumia 925) are what made me want this phone. Also the Nokia brand TBH, I was missing it. :3
I'm really happy with this phone (just wished two things about it were different though).

Honestly I think it was because of my Xbox, When Xbox still used Zune as a music service I was curious to try out the Zune HD, after that I fell in love with the Zune's UI and also the Xbox's new Dashboard update looked alot like the Zune's UI, so that made me want a phone with a similar design and that was around the time WP7 came out. Crazy story huh?

I was tired of all the other OS's to be honest. I had tried Symbian, Android (a cheap Samsung and Xperia Play), and then I got a chance to try a Gem, in the Focus. It was love at first sight, unfortunately my wallet didn't like it (Data fees), so I sold that one off and got an Omnia 7. I was able to use it with a "dumbphone" plan with internet and all, so I kept it. Now I have an Ativ S and pretty satisfied with my experience. I'm jealous of Android's many phones fo'sure, but I really prefer the stable experience I have with WP. That is really the main reason I'm on this platform. No other OS has provided a more stable experience for me and hope it stays that way.

Nokia's imaging prowess. I've had the Xperia Z Ultra before and I was so disappointed with the camera quality. I sold it and got the Lumia 1020 but I missed the big screen so I sold 1020 and bought the 1520. 😊
