Why do links not open up in their respective installed apps?

For instance if I have Instagram or 6Tag installed how come when I receive a link to Instagram it sends it to be opened by the Web browser instead of the installed app. Sorry if this has been posted before I just switched over to WinPhone and am adjusting. Any insight would be appreciated.

That's just how Windows Phone works. It's annoying but hopefully Windows 10 Mobile will make some improvements.

Fb app on build 149 opens random posts, some I share myself, in edge also. As the fb page is screwed in edge right now that's not working out to sporty.
