Why do my windows 10 modern app taskbar icons not look right?

after installing windows 10 the "new" apps such as groove music, edge, store, mail, twitter etc look broken
was wondering if there is a fix for this without having to reinstall?

I had to restart my computer a couple times to fix that issue. My start up time is much slower than it was in 8.1 =(

(sorry wasn't signed in before) here is a picture of what my taskbar is like
I have tried restarting many times and they still look like this, I have also tried unpinning and repining the apps as well
