why does my stored wifi networks do not connect automatically when in range

[Windows Central Question]

I have my home network and others stored in my phone with the password and all, and have as well the automatic connection option ticked on but every time I have to connect to them manually. This eats up my phone data, as many times I do not realize that I am not connected to wifi when I should be.
