Why does OneDrive cause my browser to freeze when opening/editing documents?

OneDrive causes browser to freeze when opening/editing documents

Each time I open a file (lets say, a word document) online with OneDrive, it freezes and essentially crashes my browser. I have tried on both a Mac with Safari and on a PC with Chrome and Firefox. Is anyone else having this issue? I have cleared all browser data and cache and the issue continues.

Works here. Try going to Office Online (https://office.live.com/start/default.aspx) and creating a new document and seeing if that works. OneDrive uses that for editing in a browser.

I was having a major issue for an hour this morning. I don't care to use a giant server built by Microsoft. I much prefer to just keep my documents on my own memory. Any who, so one drive asked for username and password, like usual when I get some bogus crap I don't want I X out the box. This caused Google Chrome to completely stop working, caused IE explorer to crash. Lastly, I couldn't even open up the Task Manager. This really pissed me off, was starting to think I had a virus. Restarted CPU, did the same thing, everything locked out. Finally, I went ahead with the user name and pass for one drive and BAM, everything working again. Microsoft has been playing dirty tricks with windows 10. They are pushing people onto their servers. They say it is for "security", but that is a bunch of malarkey. All they want is the all mighty dollar, and although everything is free now there will be costs down the line. Who gives away their software for free without a motive? Not to mention started forcing windows 10 onto windows 7 and 8 users.

you can disable onedrive if you don't want to use it - just exit it from the system tray icons
And in task manager, you can disable it from running on start up
