Why does Win 10 download stick on 'working on it screen' and then give me a blue screen?

When I click on the little icon to allow me to download windows 10, I get the next screen which shows Get windows 10 and displays working on it. I can still use the windows 7 and my chrome works fine while this pop up continues underneath. Then I get a blue screen referring to the windows privacy statement in the more info pop up that arrives when I reboot.
