Why doesn't my Nokia Lumia 520 play mp3 music

I've put some mp3 music on mu wifes phone but they will not play.
Can anyone assist me please?

connect your phone to the PC and transfer the music files via windows phone app.....because some files are not detected by the music app unless they are in right format

I find Windows media player perfect for adding music to my L930.
If you have a Windows computer then it doesn't get more easier then Windows media player.
