Why flash different carrier roms?

Hi,
so from my understanding, if I have a AT&T GO L640, I basically have the same hardware as the T-Mobile L640, correct.
What then, if I may ask, is the benefit of flashing the AT&T 640 to the T-Mobile 640, if at the end of the day, I have to unlock it to use it on T-Mobile's network anyway.

Is there some increase in performance regarding cellular signal? Or..?

I'm asking because I'm in that exact situation. I've already unlocked the 640, should I just use it like so with the AT&T rom or would there be any benefits to flashing it to TMO's rom?

Flashing to T-Mobile ROM is only going to enable WiFi calling, that's the only advantage I can think of. There are mixed reports about band 12 being enabled too.

right after the xda rebranding method was posted there were some mixed reports about band 12 actually working, but within a few weeks the problem was discovered (nvi update).

the problem is that the first post hasn't been updated, continually people will post in the xda thread about band 12 not connecting, then someone will point them to the relevant post, then that person will come back, say "thanks, its working great now"

eddieDOTexe: the advantages of flashing to the tmobile rom are: (this is assuming you have tmobile service)
1. better cell reception if you live in an area with band 12. (if band 12 is not available where you live, then no difference)
2. wifi calling
3. less bloatware. tmobile is much closer to stock windows

That last part is completely true.
I'll investigate about band 12 in my area.
Thanks guys.

Is it possible to get a link to the relevant post
