Why has my sms tone stopped working after updating?

sms tone stopped working after update

This morning I updated my 1020 W10P to the latest version .318, now my sms tone will only play the default tone instead of the one I had before the update any ideas anyone

so when you go to change the tone, what happens?

Hi, I've experienced a similar problem after the last os (W10M) update. I have a different message and ringtone set for every contact person so I know who's calling just by listening to the tone. But since the last update, this isn't working anymore. Tried every possible setting, didn't manage to solve the problem. The only thing that still works is changing the standard tone into a personalized one that's used for each text messages or call.

Everything works fine except for my custom sms tone, all I can get is the default tone and I am having trouble hearing that, then I get abusive phone calls from the person saying that I'm ignoring them, I have tried it on all my windows phones and the same problem exists on all 2X 920's & my spare 1020, so it's defiantly a problem in the upgrade to .318

nothing happens, it doesn't mater what I try it will only use the default tone for sms

try updating to 10586.338 through insider release ring

I just checked my phone OS build 10.0.10586..338, so it's the latest build but the custom tones for sms don't work, is anyone else having the same problem, i'm missing important messages from my fire crew

I have the same problem and I'm surprised more people haven't been talking about it.
The only option is to set the global text tone to "default" to get your per-contact tones working.
Then you're stuck with a tone you don't want for anyone you don't customise!
