Why has the installation of 8.1 update 1 developer preview stopped?

why has the installation of 8.1 update 1 developer preview stopped?

I was installing developer preview 8.1 update 1....
the package downloaded completely and the preparing to install was also 100% ...then the phone restarted... and then two wheels spinning screen came with a progress bar...which stops after a while...what to do now???? please help

WAIT for it to FINISH

Since this was just posted, the update takes time. It's backing up your phone, installing, restoring your phone, etc. - could take a half hour. Patience

The progress bar will eventually jump ahead, then reboot, then start the restore ...

Or your battery ran out while updating. Happened to a family member. Luckily the phone didn't brick. We plugged it in, the phone started and the spinning gears screen came up again. Update finished successfully after that little scare

Advice: Always leave plugged in while updating
