Why is my 950 XL using a lot of data?

950 XL using a lot of data

I was at work today for 12 hours and noticed my phone had used 200mb of data basically doing nothing all day. The data arrow above my signal bar was showing every time I unlocked my phone. I've now turned of background data and location service.

Is there any other settings I can adjust to restrict my data usage?

I got a warning I was going over my data limit with AT&T, this never happens... After checking data sense, it says "system" has used 8.67 GB of data.

Anyone know what's going on here? My backups are maybe 100 MB for the phone, but that should happen on Wi-Fi overnight, and not add up to over 8 GB in a matter of a couple weeks.

Could it be a OneDrive sync thats causing it ?

How long have you had the phone and how much historical sms messaging do you have?

I ask because every time I have loaded a W10M preview, or performed a hard reset, I'm in for just short of a gig of sms history sync. (I use the setting "anytime")
Note, it can take several days to accomplish.

One drive is turned off and there's nothing about and showing on my data usage. Two of the biggest data users seem to be Xbox app and speed test. Which I only used once each.
