Why is my IMEI blank on my Nokia 920?

Nokia 920 blank IMEI

I have recently replaced the digitiser/LCD display assembly on my 920 and now it is stuck on 'flight mode' and does not recognise the SIM card. On making further checks, I find that dialling *#06# for the IMEI gives an error message of 'There was an error with this code'. Looking in Settings>About shows a blank for the IMEI. Is there any way to fix this? I know the original IMEI for the phone as it is printed inside the SIM tray.

Soft/Hard reset maybe?

I have a solution that worked for me. Download Nokia Software Recovery Tool, connect the phone and follow the instructions to reload/update the operating system. This reinstates the IMEI. Obviously, it is a good idea to back up all you personal data before starting the procedure as it wipes the phone! Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
