Why is My Lumia 620 not responding?

I have Lumia 620. till a week back it was of some use to me so i had as a backup.
now theres a absurd behaviour.
As soon i switch it onn the phone freezes/hangs. double tap still works i dont know how. but thats the only operation i can perform on my phone apart from that nothing even to switch off my phone i need to take out the batteries.

remove the SIM and then start up the phone, see if that helps
